Harvest notes
In 2022, the Sangiovese vines began to bud in mid-April, with uniform growth above 300 meters and about a week's delay in the lower-lying vineyards, thanks to a cool spring. The season proceeded normally until flowering, accompanied by some rain and temperature fluctuations. From fruit set onward, late spring and summer were marked by intense heat and drought, interrupted only by heavy rains between late July and early August, during veraison. The favorable start to the season allowed the vines to grow without stress until late spring, when extreme temperatures and a lack of rainfall set in. Soil management was essential to provide the vines with water and nutrients accumulated over the winter, enabling the vineyards to reach veraison in good health, despite the heat stress, and with grapes that reached full ripeness.
