Harvest notes
The 2022 growing season began in mid- April, with uniform budbreak and vegetative growth, thanks to a cool early spring. After a steady progression up to flowering—marked by some rain and significant daily temperature fluctuations—from the fruit-setting phase through late spring and the long summer, we experienced extreme temperatures and a lack of rainfall, interrupted by heavy rains between late July and early August during the veraison phase of the grapes. To mitigate water stress during the most critical period, soil management practices aimed at making water and nutrients accumulated over the winter available to the vines were essential. This allowed the vineyards to reach veraison in good health, with the grapes achieving good ripeness, despite the stress caused by high temperatures.
Tasting notes
Valore di Famiglia 2022 has a ruby-red color. On the nose, it impresses with its complexity: intense balsamic notes alternate with hints of ripe red fruit. On the palate, it is lively, enveloping, and flavorful, well-supported by an extraordinary freshness that carries it through to a long, savory finish.
Pairings
It pairs perfectly with hearty, flavorful dishes, such as grilled, braised, and slow-cooked red meats, game, and meat sauce. It is also excellent with cold cuts, aged cheeses, and as a wine for sipping.
